LBCC Students Named to OCCA All Oregon Academic Team

Two Linn-Benton Community College students have been named to the Oregon Community College Association All Oregon Academic Team.

Economics major Taylor Megy, of Corvallis, and psychology and political science dual major Chelsey Mick, of Corvallis, will be honored at a luncheon with Governor Kate Brown April 27.

Megy is an active member of LBCC Phi Theta Kappa Honor Roll Society, and serves as an intern with the Oregon legislature and as a member of the college Progression Management Council. He is a member of the LBCC ROV Club and the Board Game Club, and volunteers at Linn-Benton Food Share.

Mick is also an active member of LBCC Phi Theta Kappa and is part of the LBCC Student Government. She is founder and officer LBCC’s Human and Civil Rights Club, and is an active member in several college clubs including Gay Straight Alliance and Active Minds, and serves as a psychology and sociology tutor.

Both students will receive a plaque from the OCCA and a $1,000 scholarship from the university they plan to attend to complete their bachelor’s degrees.

The Oregon Community College Association, in partnership with Phi Theta Kappa, yearly recognizes outstanding students from Oregon’s 17 community colleges through the All-Oregon Academic Team awards.  Students selected become eligible for more than $350,000 in Coca-Cola Foundation and USA Today scholarships.
