Benton Center Ceramic Lecture & Workshop

Ceramic artist Stephen Mickey will hold a lecture and workshop at the LBCC Benton Center , 757 Polk Ave. NW, Corvallis Nov. 16 & 17. Mickey, a former Mt. Hood Community College ceramics instructor and creator of the Soulgama wood-fire kiln, will give a free slide show lecture of his work Friday, Nov. 16 from 7 to 8 p.m. in room BC-244. On Saturday, Nov. 17, Mickey will demonstrate his clay techniques in a workshop from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Benton Center ceramics studio, room BC-140. The workshop includes a no-host potluck at noon. Cost for the workshop is $35. Register for the workshop at www.linnbenton.edu or in person the day of the workshop. Benton Center Ceramics Studio Event

Corvallis ceramic artist and instructor Cynthia Spencer will hold an evening slide show and presentation on Friday, May 18 at 7 p.m. at the LBCC Benton Center, BC-244, 757 Polk Ave. NW, Corvallis. Spencer’s presentation includes hand-building construction ideas and ways to show and sell your art. This free presentation will be part of a reception fundraising event for the ceramics studio beginning at 5:30 p.m. at the center. Take a tour of the ceramics studio, and join in for a silent auction. Proceeds form the auction will be used to build new display cases for student and community work. Spencer also will offer a studio workshop on Saturday, May 19 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Benton Center ceramics studio, which includes hands-on demonstrations and a no-host potluck. Resolving Workplace Conflict Workshop

Learn how to resolve conflicts at work in a way that enhances the workplace in the workshop Resolving Workplace Conflict offered through Linn-Benton Community College. Whether you are an organizational leader who deals with problematic situations with employees, a supervisor dealing with employees in difficult situations, are faced with upset customers, or want to work more effectively with your co-worker, this workshop will help you. Professional mediator Chris Sheesley will lead the workshop. This one-day workshop will meet on Thursday, Feb. 10, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the LBCC Fireside Room, Albany campus, second floor Calapooia Center. Cost is $109. LBCC Hosts Oregon Shakespeare Festival Actors

Linn-Benton Community College will host a pair of actors from the Oregon Shakespeare Festival on Friday, November 12 for two performances from 10 a.m. to 10:50 a.m. and from 12 p.m. to 12:50 p.m. at the Russell Tripp Performance Center, Takena Hall, 6500 Pacific Blvd. SW, Albany. The actors will hold two one-hour performance workshops. The first workshop will feature characters of Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar. The second workshop will feature scenes from other plays from the 2010 OSF season. OSF actors David Kelly and Terri McMahon will lead the workshops. Kelly has been with OSF for 20 seasons. A graduate of the University of Delaware, this is Kelly’s fourth tour with the OSF School Visit Program. McMahon has been with OSF for 18 seasons. She received her bachelor of fine arts from the University of Southern California. This is her 12th tour with the program.
