Linn-Benton Community College’s Parenting Education Department recently received a renewal grant of $50,000 from the Oregon Parenting Education Collaborative for its Parenting Success Network. The grant covers the 2017-18 school year, and is part of a multi-year initiative supporting expansion of high-quality parenting education programs and a stronger, more coordinated parenting education system statewide. Oregon Parenting Education Collaborative is comprised of the Oregon Community Foundation, Meyer Memorial Trust, The Ford Family Foundation, The Collins Foundation and Oregon State University. LBCC was in the first group of six programs to participate in the OPEC initiative, which has grown to 15 programs since 2010. Linn-Benton Community College announced that it received a third year of funding to support the Parenting Success Network in Linn and Benton counties, a collaborative project facilitated by the college. The $90,000 grant from the Oregon Parenting EducationCollaborative is part of a new multi-year initiative developed by The Oregon Community Foundation in partnership with the Meyer Memorial Trust , The FordFamily Foundation , The Collins Foundation and Oregon State University . Established to increase public acceptance of the importance of parenting education, the Parenting Success Network helps coordinate and improve the quality of parenting services, enhance accessibility of information regarding services and positive parenting, and provides training and resources for parenting educators.
