A new community education exercise class “Classical Pilates” will be offered at the LBCC Benton Center starting April 3. Based on a system of exercises from the teachings of Joseph Pilates, the exercises in this class can be modified so any student can achieve the workout through an order that is laid from the first session and built upon as the students become stronger and more flexible. Exercises start with warm-ups and continue through various planes of movement such as extension, flexion and rotation before moving to cool downs. Class moves through a progression of challenge as we introduce new exercises as the body becomes stronger and the mind is more knowledgeable about the correct muscles to be used. This 11-week class is offered in two sessions at the LBCC Benton Center: Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7:30 to 8:20 a.m. starting April 3; and Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:30-4:20 p.m. starting April 4.
