An exhibit of work by three art instructors from Linn-Benton Community College’s Benton Center will be shown in LBCC’s North Santiam Gallery, 6500 Pacific Blvd SW, Albany through December 11.  A reception and gallery talk will be held Thursday, October 29, from 3 to 4 p.m. in the NSH second floor atrium. The exhibit represents a wide range of artistic approaches brought to the Benton Center art department by the three artists; from the colorful and diverse paintings by Mark Allison, to the expressive, monumental mixed media drawings of Andrew Myers, to the delicate, sophisticated, and whimsical ceramics of Renee McKitterick. McKitterick is the new ceramics instructor at the Benton Center, coming to Corvallis most recently from New Mexico, where she completed her MFA in 2012. The LBCC Art Student Juried Show will on display through June 5 in the North Santiam Hall Galleries of Linn-Benton Community College, 6500 Pacific Blvd SW, Albany, OR. An awards presentation and reception will be held Wednesday, May 6 from 12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. on the second floor of the NSH Gallery, with more than $2,000 worth of prices and certificates to be awarded.     This year’s student show is one of the largest; with 96 artworks by LBCC art students on the two floors of the NSH Gallery. Shelley Curtis, curator and manager for Art About Agriculture, chose many of the awards, including Best of Show. Additional donors and local businesses provided cash awards and gift certificates, including Carol Schaafsma, Gary Westford, Hester Coucke, Blick Art Materials, Corvallis Fall Festival, Creative Framing, and the Photo Arts Guild. An exhibit by artist William Shumway entitled River Painting will be on display March 2 through April 24 in the North Santiam Hall Gallery of Linn-Benton Community College, 6500 Pacific Blvd SW, Albany. A reception and gallery talk will be held Wednesday, March 11, from 12:00 – 1:30 p.m. in NSH Gallery. River Painting depicts the scenic beauty of Oregon Rivers, including the Metolius, the Rowe, the John Day, the Mary’s and the Willamette. Shumway’s acrylic paintings were created over a period of several years, sometimes painted from a canoe or the air. The Winter Invitational exhibit by three guest artists, Bets Cole, Judy Ness and Laura Mack will be shown through Feb. 27 in the North Santiam Hall Gallery of Linn-Benton Community College, 6500 Pacific Blvd SW, Albany. The show is rich in its diversity of media and style. Each artist’s work reflects a journey of a place or time. Judy Ness, a fiber artist from Eugene, reflects about her journey as she weaves light and color into each tapestry. Willamette University faculty members Andries Fourie, Alexandra Opie, James Thompson, Bethany Hays and Sarah Beadle will exhibit their work in the North Santiam Hall Galleries at Linn-Benton Community College, 6500 SW Pacific Blvd., Albany through Dec. 5. A reception and artist talk is scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 4, from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. in the NSH Gallery second floor atrium. Fourie is showing mixed media work that explores the tension between flatness and dimensionality using found and fabricated objects. His work is concerned with issues of memory, identity, tradition and cultural hybridity in South African culture. Opie is exhibiting a series of tintype photographs, entitled Encounters. South Santiam Hall Gallery More than 25 art faculty from Clatsop, Mt. Hood and Linn-Benton community colleges are exhibiting their work at the LBCC Albany campus, 6500 Pacific Blvd SW, through December 6. “Community Ground v.2” fills three galleries on campus, with over 100 works of art in a wide array of media, including painting, ceramics, metal-smithing, photography, drawing, mixed media and installation art.  The traveling exhibit is intended to celebrate the work of teaching artists and the role their art plays as a source of inspiration to their students and the community.  The exhibit at LBCC is the second of three shows that grew out of collaboration between the three colleges. The first show was held at Clatsop last January, and the third will be held at Mt. Hood in 2014. More than 50 art works by 34 student artists are on view at the Annual Art Student Juried Show in the North Santiam Hall Galleries at Linn-Benton Community College, 6500 Pacific Blvd SW, Albany. 
A reception and awards ceremony is scheduled for Wednesday, May 8, from noon to 1 p.m., in the NSH second floor atrium. Juror Yuji Hiratsuka, a renowned print-maker and professor of Art at Oregon State University, will be on hand to confer over $2,000 in cash prizes and gift certificates from donors and area merchants.

 The annual juried show was open to all students who have taken art classes at the college during the 2012-13 academic year. The media on exhibit include paintings in oil, watercolor and acrylic; drawings in graphite, charcoal, and pastel; photography; ceramics and mixed media. The exhibit runs through June 7. The NSH Gallery is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

John Van Dreal oil painting - "Again #2" Four Willamette Valley artists will be exhibiting a wide variety of media in the third annual LBCC Invitational from Jan. 7 to March 1 in the North Santiam Hall Galleries at Linn-Benton Community College, 6500 Pacific Blvd. SW, Albany. Seven art faculty from Eastern Oregon University in LaGrande are featured in an exhibit now on view at the North Santiam Hall Galleries at Linn-Benton Community College, 6500 Pacific Blvd SW, Albany.           “Transitions,” an exhibit by four Linn-Benton Community College art students and graduates, is on display in the college’s North Santiam Hall Galleries through Sept. 10.             The artists are Johnny Beaver of Lebanon, Kevin Lyon of Albany, Miriam Morrissette of Corvallis and Jessie Barnhouse of Alsea.   All four are also members of the Temporary Artists Guild in Corvallis.             The more than 40 paintings on display are done in oil, acrylic and mixed media on canvas and paper. Glass artist Jerri Bartholomew of Corvallis and printmaker Paul Gentry of Independence join Corvallis painter and graphic artist Carol Chapel for an exhibit in the North Santiam Hall Galleries at Linn-Benton Community College, 6500 Pacific Blvd. SW, Albany, from March 5 to April 20. A public reception and gallery talk will be held for Northwest artists Carol Hausser, Cynthia Herron, and Beverly Soasey on Wednesday, Jan. 26, from 2 to 3 p.m. in the North Santiam Hall Gallery second floor atrium, Linn-Benton Community College, 6500 Pacific Blvd. SW, Albany. Hausser has been teaching art at Chemeketa for the past 30 years under her married name, Carol Bibler. She works in watercolor to create colorful, complex geometric abstract paintings, some as large as four feet by five feet. Hausser’s work is in the art collections of the State of Oregon, Hallie Ford Museum of Art and the Microsoft Corp., and has been widely exhibited in the Northwest over the years. Herron’s colorful acrylic paintings express the mood and atmosphere of the Willamette Valley landscape, tracing a fine line between representation and complete abstraction.
