Two levels of dog training classes will be held at the Linn-Benton Community College’s Benton Center starting June 25. Dog Training I will focus on how to positively motivate your dog to respond quickly despite distractions, to reliably come when called, and will teach the technique of loose lead walking. Dog Training II will build on the skills learned in Dog Training I to include precision heeling, learning new tricks, and politely greeting strangers. This class can help you to begin preparing for therapy work, rally obedience, competing in dog sports, or taking the AKC Canine Good Citizen test. These five-week classes will meet Wednesdays from 6 to 6:50 p.m. at the LBCC Benton Center, 757 NW Polk Ave., Corvallis. Dog Training I starts June 25, and Dog Training II starts July 30. "Dog Obedience" and “Puppy Kindergarten” classes will be held through the Linn-Benton Community College Lebanon Center starting Jan. 9. “Dog Obedience” covers basic commands and equipment, socialization, rewarding good behavior, breaking bad behavior, games and tricks, and responsible pet ownership. Veterinary shot records and dog history form are required. This 10-week class will meet at the Lebanon Senior Center, 80 Tangent St., Thursdays from 6:30-7:20 p.m. beginning Jan. 9. Cost is $39. "Puppy Kindergarten" is designed specifically for puppies 16-weeks and younger that are not fully vaccinated. Class will focus on walking on a leash, appropriate interaction with other dogs of the same age and appropriate play. This eight-week class meets at the Lebanon Senior Center Thursdays from 5:30-6:20 p.m. beginning Jan. 9. Cost is $39.
