Campus Safety: Helping you stay informed Each issue will focus on one aspect of the work being done to create a safer campus environment. This second installment addresses active shooter/weapons training. Campus Safety Emergency Response Plans Active Shooter/Weapons Incident Training: How to Respond The LBCC Campus Safety Committee continues its work and training on emergency response in the event of an active shooter situation on campus. Managers, deans and faculty are being trained on protocols, and they in turn will train staff in their areas. Everyone is encouraged to read the  protocols on the Public Safety site, and, if you have a Smart Phone, to download the Public Safety App , which links directly to the officer on duty. Always report behaviors or talk that is concerning, no matter how small they may seem. The Oregon Cultural Trust has granted funding to Linn-Benton Community College’s theater department for the project “Bridges,” a community engaged arts project working with residents of the city of Independence. The $10,300 grant will be used to produce an original play through the theater department’s Sanctuary Stage, a program for creating community plays. “Bridges” will focus on the lives, experiences and challenges of Latino families living in Independence. The play will be developed using information from story circles, interviews and public forums with residents, and will be directed by LBCC theater faculty and executive director of the Majestic Theater in Corvallis, Tinamarie Ivy. The Bridges project hopes to involve approximately 1,200 Polk County residents to participate in the creation and performance of the play about Latino culture and history in Independence, with a goal of strengthening inter-generational and cross-cultural relationships. "Comedy Syndicate," LBCC Performing Arts students, to perform improv at the Albany Eagles Club Nov. 17. The improv sketch comedy ensemble “Comedy Syndicate” will perform Saturday, Nov. 17 at 7:30 p.m. at the Albany Eagles Club , 127 NW Broadalbin Street. Inspired by the popular comedy shows “Who's Line is it Anyway” and Drew Carey's “Improviganza,” the show brings live comedy front and center, as performed by Linn-Benton Community College Performing Arts students. The show begins at 7:30 p.m., with optional dinner seating at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $5 at the door. Ticket price covers the show only. This show is open to the public: under 21 admitted.
