Auditions for Linn-Benton Community College’s fall play “Tango Mike (Thanks Much)” will be held Monday, Oct. 6 at 6 p.m. in the LBCC Russell Trip Performance Center Theater in Takena Hall, 6500 Pacific Blvd. SW, Albany. “Tango Mike” is an original play based on the lives and stories of local Afghanistan and Iraq veterans and their families who are suffering from the effects of PTSD. The play is part of a Community Collaborative Play-Making process by which topical issues concerning micro-communities are brought to the forefront in the form of a play, through the collaboration and participation of members of these micro-communities. Set in Albany, Oregon on Memorial Day, the script was created through interviews and story circles with veterans and their families from Albany, Corvallis, Philomath, Lebanon, and Sweet Home, Oregon. Duende de Lorca , a bilingual play by Portland-based Teatro Milagro Touring Theater Company , will be held on Thursday, Oct. 13 at 7 p.m. at the Linn-Benton Community College Russell Tripp Performance Center in Takena Hall, Albany campus, 6500 Pacific Blvd. SW. Duende de Lorca is written by Teatro Milagro artistic director Dañel Malan and directed by Matthew Zrebski. This original, bilingual production provides a culturally enriching evening of entertainment accessible to both the English and Spanish speaking communities. Duende de Lorca follows the early years of Federico García Lorca, an artist celebrated for his poetry, music and plays. From the opening night of Mariana Pineda, to the printing of Gypsy Ballads and Poet in New York, the play follows Lorca’s life as a struggling young artist whose travels through New York and Cuba became a quest for cultural integration and gender acceptance.
