“OneVibe Diversity Day” Celebration May 9, 10-2

The Urban Shaman The annual “OneVibe Diversity Day” celebration will be held at Linn-Benton Community College Wednesday, May 9 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the college courtyard, 6500 Pacific Blvd. SW, Albany. The event includes musical performances by Portland’s The Urban Shaman , Gerencia Elegante of Albany, bagpiper Mark Mullaney , also from Portland, and LBCC’s own a capella group Blue Light Special .   Close to thirty campus and community groups with information on diversity and cultural engagement will surround the courtyard. Courtyard lunch will be available for $5, or $4 for students, with proceeds benefiting LBCC’s Global Connections Club. This event is free and open to the public. Fall Choral Concert “Whispered and Revealed” Nov. 30, 7:30 p.m.

The fall choral concert “Whispered and Revealed” will be held at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, November 30 at Linn-Benton Community College Russell Tripp Performance Center, Takena Hall, 6500 Pacific Blvd. SW, Albany. Performances include LBCC’s award-winning concert and chamber choirs conducted by Raymund Ocampo, director of choral studies, and accompanied by Kristin Rorrer, and performances by the vocal a cappella groups Blue Light Special and The Sirens. Featured choral works include Silent Night and Friendly Beasts, with the a cappella groups performing works including River and Human. Raymund Ocampo Linn-Benton Community College’s first choral concert conducted by new choral director Raymund Ocampo will be performed Thursday, Dec. 3 at 7:30 p.m. in the LBCC Russell Tripp Performance Center, Takena Hall, 6500 Pacific Blvd. SW, Albany. "Home is Where Hope Abides" features LBCC's award-winning Concert Choir, Re-Choired Element Chamber Choir, and the vocal a cappella groups Blue Light Special and The Sirens. 4th Annual “Celebration of A Cappella”

The 4th annual “Celebration of A Cappella” will be held Thursday, April 9 at 7:30 p.m. at Linn-Benton Community College’s Russell Tripp Performance Center, Takena Hall, 6500 Pacific Blvd. SW, Albany. The concert will feature a cappella performances by LBCC’s men’s group “Blue Light Special” and women’s group “The Sirens,” the University of Oregon’s “Mind the Gap,” South Albany High School’s “Rebelation,” and West Albany High School’s “Rhythmix.” Tickets are $5 general admission and will be available at the door. The Linn-Benton Community College choirs will perform “Winter Light” Thursday, March 13 at 7:30 p.m. in the LBCC Russell Tripp Performance Center, Takena Hall, 6500 Pacific Blvd. SW, Albany. Conducted by LBCC director of choral activities, James Reddan, the performance includes the Concert Choir, Re-Choired Element Chamber Choir, the Musical Theater/Opera Workshop, and the a cappella groups Blue Light Special and The Sirens. Fall Choir Concert “A World in Harmony” Nov. 29

The Linn-Benton Community College choirs will perform “A World in Harmony” Thursday, Nov. 29 at 7:30 p.m. in the LBCC Russell Tripp Performance Center , Takena Hall, 6500 Pacific Blvd. SW, Albany. Conducted by LBCC director of choral activities, James Reddan, the performance includes the Concert Choir, Re-Choired Element Chamber Choir, Women’s Ensemble, and the a cappella groups Blue Light Special and The Sirens. Diana Hancock will accompany on piano.  The concert also features more than 150 musicians in one of the largest collaborations between singers and instrumentalists at LBCC including brass orchestra, percussion, string quartet and piano. “There is truly something for everybody,” said Reddan. “We certainly hope you will join us in welcoming the seasons and celebration!”

The LBCC Music Department released their internationally ranked choir's second CD, “Ear Candy,” a compilation of a cappella music from classical to pop. Featuring the voices of the Re-Choired Element Chamber Choir, men’s a cappella ensemble Blue Light Special, and the women’s a cappella ensemble The Sirens, "Ear Candy" is eclectic collection of works performed by the ensembles from Whitacre's Leonardo Dreams of His Flying Machine ; Clausen's Prayer ; Shank's When David Heard ; to Price Tag , Girls Just Wanna Have Fun , Somebody I Used to Know , Apologize , and more.  CD’s are $20, with proceeds benefiting the LBCC Music Department .
