Choirs Release New CD, Performance Slated for Nov. 29
The LBCC Music Department released their internationally ranked choir's second CD, “Ear
Candy,” a compilation of a cappella music from classical to pop.
Featuring the voices of the Re-Choired Element Chamber Choir, men’s a cappella ensemble Blue Light Special, and the women’s a cappella ensemble The Sirens, "Ear Candy" is eclectic collection of works performed by the ensembles from Whitacre's Leonardo Dreams of His Flying Machine; Clausen's Prayer; Shank's When David Heard; to Price Tag, Girls Just Wanna Have Fun, Somebody I Used to Know, Apologize, and more.
CD’s are $20, with proceeds benefiting the LBCC Music Department. Purchase online at www.linnbenton.edu/go/tickets, at Gracewinds Music in Corvallis, or at the LBCC Bookstore, Albany campus.
The choirs will perform “A World in Harmony” on Thursday, Nov. 29 at 7:30 p.m. in the LBCC Russell Tripp Performance Center, Takena Hall, Albany campus.
Conducted by choir director James Reddan, the performance includes the Concert Choir, Re-Choired Element, the Women’s Ensemble, and Blue Light Special and The Sirens. Diana Hancock will accompany on piano.
“A World In Harmony” will feature over 150 musicians in one of the largest collaborations between singers and instrumentalists at LBCC including brass orchestra, percussion, string quartet and piano.
“There is truly something for everybody,” said Reddan. “We certainly hope you will join us in welcoming the seasons and celebration!”
The concert will feature many different choral works celebrating different choral traditions including: Porter’s Lux Aeterna; Mendelssohn’s Angels in Seven; Whitacre’s Sleep and Five Hebrew Love Songs; Meader’s We Three Kings; Ganz’s O Clap Your Hands; and Rutter’s Gloria.
The a cappella ensembles will present a wide variety of popular favorites including: Rumor Has It; A cappella; Shooting Stars; and Keep Your Head Up.
Performance tickets are $10 general admission, $7 for students and seniors, $5 for those under 18.
