LBCC Opens Time Capsule for 50th Birthday

Approximately 150 people attended LBCC's Time Capsule Reveal and Re-bury party May 16, 2018 in celebration of the college's 50th birthday.  On May 18, 1993, LBCC buried a time capsule to commemorate its 25th Anniversary, to be opened a quarter-century later in the then-futuristic year of 2018.   That year, LBCC held its first Diversity Week, welcomed its first second-generation child to the Family Resource Center daycare on campus, and started its first online library card catalog, all while coping with a hiring freeze prompted by budget shortages under Oregon's Measure 5. Jon Carnahan, LBCC president back in '93, dedicated the original time capsule, placing it in the ground with the help of long-time LBCC grounds manager George van Keulen. LBCC Hosts 33rd Bob Ross Nature Photography Show

The 33rd Annual Bob Ross Open Invitational Nature Photography Show will be held at Linn-Benton Community College on Friday, Nov. 9 at 7 p.m. in the Forum building, room F-104, 6500 Pacific Blvd. SW, Albany. This is a free, non-juried show and is open to anyone to attend, weather you are showing photographs or just want to see what others are doing in the field. This year’s theme is “Interspecies Interactions, or Evidence of Animals.” Nature for this purpose is defined as plants, animals, landscapes, rocks, clouds, water or anything else that one finds in nature and that lacks any evidence of humans. No architecture, vehicles, hot air balloons or backpackers, ect. Nature photographers from throughout the Willamette Valley gather each year on this occasion to celebrate nature and share their experiences, techniques, favorite places and things to see.
