Thinking about starting your own business? Plan to attend the class MicroBusiness Explore and Commit offered by Linn-Benton Community College’s Small Business Development Center. This eight-week course will help you determine if you have a viable business. Learn about how money flows in a small business, how much money you will need to launch your business, typical business risks and regulations and straightforward record keeping practices. The course also explores competition your business may face and how to best reach customers. To learn more about the program, attend one of two orientation sessions held on Tuesday, Jan. 3, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the LBCC Albany campus, Calapooia Center building, room CC-213, or on Wednesday, Jan. 4, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the LBCC Benton Center in Corvallis, room BC-107. The MicroBusiness Program at Linn-Benton Community College will offer business classes for individuals interested in learning how to start or expand a small business. The MicroBusiness series will be run three times this year, each offering small business training workshops, business counseling, technical assistance, advice on accessing capital and networking opportunities. Although the program is designed for people with low-to-moderate incomes, anyone may participate. The first in the series will be offered at the LBCC Lebanon Center on Tuesdays starting Sept. 27 through Dec. 6. The second series will be held at the LBCC Benton Center in Corvallis during winter term, and the third series will be held at the LBCC Albany campus during spring term.
