An exhibit of juried student work by Linn-Benton Community College art students will be on display through June 2 at the college’s North Santiam Hall Gallery , 6500 SW Pacific Blvd, Albany. An award reception will be held in the gallery’s 2nd floor atrium Wednesday, May 4 from 12 to 1:30 p.m. The reception is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be provided. Local companies and community members donated certificates and monetary awards for the reception including: Bill Shumway, Pegasus Gallery, LBCC Bookstore, LBCC ASSH Division, LBCC Graphic Arts Department, LBCC Santiam Restaurant, Blick’s Art Materials, Corvallis Fall Festival, Frederick Westford on behalf of Gary Westford, Corvallis Photo Arts Guild, Dan Wise, Creative Framing, and Studio 262. Works of art were selected in a jurying process led by Bill Shumway of Corvallis. LBCC art galleries are open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. The LBCC Art Student Juried Show will on display through June 5 in the North Santiam Hall Galleries of Linn-Benton Community College, 6500 Pacific Blvd SW, Albany, OR. An awards presentation and reception will be held Wednesday, May 6 from 12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. on the second floor of the NSH Gallery, with more than $2,000 worth of prices and certificates to be awarded.     This year’s student show is one of the largest; with 96 artworks by LBCC art students on the two floors of the NSH Gallery. Shelley Curtis, curator and manager for Art About Agriculture, chose many of the awards, including Best of Show. Additional donors and local businesses provided cash awards and gift certificates, including Carol Schaafsma, Gary Westford, Hester Coucke, Blick Art Materials, Corvallis Fall Festival, Creative Framing, and the Photo Arts Guild. Nearly 50 art works by 43 student artists are on view at the Annual Art Student Juried Show in the North Santiam Hall Galleries at Linn-Benton Community College, 6500 SW Pacific Blvd. A reception and awards ceremony is scheduled for Wednesday, May 7 from noon to 1 p.m. in the NSH second floor atrium. Juror Cynthia Spencer, a ceramic artist and director of the Corvallis Arts Center, will be on hand to confer more than $2,000 in cash prizes from donors and gift certificates from area merchants. The exhibit was open to students who have taken art classes at the college during the past year. Media on exhibit include paintings in oil, watercolor and acrylic; drawings in graphite, colored pencil, and charcoal; photography; ceramic sculptures and mixed-media. The show runs through June 6. NSH Gallery is open weekdays from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Juror Yuji Hiratsuka, a renowned print-maker and professor of Art at Oregon State University, will be on hand to confer over $2,000 in cash prizes and gift certificates from donors and area merchants.

 The annual juried show was open to all students who have taken art classes at the college during the 2012-13 academic year. The media on exhibit include paintings in oil, watercolor and acrylic; drawings in graphite, charcoal, and pastel; photography; ceramics and mixed media. The exhibit runs through June 7. The NSH Gallery is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
