Introduction to Chinese Tea Ceremony class Oct. 28

An introductory class on the ancient art of the Chinese tea ceremony will be held at LBCC’s Benton Center October 28. Sometimes called "the artless art,” the ancient Chinese tea ceremony is a beautiful, calming practice designed to be shared with friends. Learn how to prepare, appreciate and enjoy a variety of fine teas and take your first steps towards becoming a true tea connoisseur. Class meets Saturday, Oct. 28 from 10 to 11:50 a.m. at the LBCC Benton Center, 757 NW Polk Ave, Corvallis. Cost is $79. New Relief Printmaking class starts Sept. 28

Learn the art of printmaking in the class “Relief Printmaking” offered at the LBCC Benton Center starting September 28. Explore hand printing using a variety of relief methods using woodblocks and linoleum including printing in one color on Japanese mulberry paper and using reductive techniques to create an image with multiple layers, all without using a press. No previous printmaking experience is necessary. This six-week class will meet Thursdays from 6 to 8:20 p.m. starting Sept. 28 at the LBCC Benton Center, 757 NW Polk Ave., Corvallis. Cost is $95. Spanish for Traveling in Latin America class

The class Spanish for traveling in Latin America will be held at the LBCC Benton Center in Corvallis starting October 5. Learn the key phrases to make your trip to a Latin American country more enjoyable, including a basis for expanding the Spanish that you already know. Self-defense class at Benton Center

A self-defense class will be offered through the LBCC Benton Center starting September 26. Develop situational awareness and confidence while learning basic self-defense skills, including how to avoid attacks and to determine if a situation will pose a threat. No previous experience necessary. This 11-week class meets Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2 to 2:50 p.m. starting Sept. 26 at the LBCC Benton Center, 757 NW Polk Ave., Corvallis. Cost is $89. New classes in Karate and Self Defense start June 27

Karate and self-defense classes will be offered through LBCC Community Education at the Benton Center starting June 27. Shao-Lin Kempo Karate is a traditional martial art incorporating Karate, Kung Fu, and Jiu Jitsu. Learn basic moves while increasing your energy, confidence and self-defense skills. No previous experience necessary. This 10-week class meets Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1 to 1:50 p.m. starting June 27 at LBCC Benton Center, 757 Polk Ave. NW. Cost is $89. Two new photography classes will be held at the LBCC Benton Center starting March 29. "Adobe Photoshop Lightroom I" provides one easy application for managing, adjusting, and presenting large volumes of digital photographs. Learn tips, techniques and hands-on activities will help you become more productive and enjoy great photos. This three-week class meets Tuesdays from 6 to 7:50 p.m. starting March 29 at the LBCC Benton Center, 757 NW Polk Ave. Cost is $59. The class "Travel Photography" will help you explore the basics of exposure, lighting, and composition and identify what equipment is practical for travel and how to pack and carry. This three-week class meets Wednesdays from 6 to 7:50 p.m starting March 30 at the LBCC Benton Center. Benton Center Fall Community Education Classes

LBCC Benton Center offers the following photography and computer classes designed to enhance your personal and professional skills starting the week of Sept. 28.  PERSONAL COMPUTER ESSENTIALS I: This class is for those who have never touched a computer before and want hands-on, step-by-step instruction. Designed to go at an easy pace. Includes identifying the various parts of the computer, how to turn it on and off and use the mouse and keyboard. Also introduces working with Windows 7, and a brief intro to email and the Internet. This three-week class meets Tuesdays from 1-2:50 p.m. starting Sept. 29 at the LBCC Benton Center. Cost is $49. APPLE IPHONE: Get to know your iPhone's basic functions and useful features. The class “Dog Play” will be held at the LBCC Benton Center starting July 29. Cultivate your relationship with your dog by engaging in pet sport, games and positive play. Learn entertaining games and gain an introduction to popular sports including agility, flyball and canine nose work. Gain grooming tips and develop an even greater bond with your four-legged companion. New Class Mixes Beer and Art

A new, one of a kind art class "Beer and Brushes: Find Your Inner Picasso" is being offered through LBCC Community Education May 12 and May 14. Explore your artistic talent while enjoying the atmosphere of a local brewery. Receive step-by-step instruction, supplies, and your first glass of beer for inspiration (or age appropriate beverage). No experience is necessary. Taught by Chelsea Vandenend, a highly talented, vibrant local artist and LBCC instructor. “We found our Corks and Canvas class, which pairs wine and art, to be extremely popular and felt there is likely an excellent audience with equal passion for beer,” shares Chelsea Nordby, LBCC Program Coordinator for Corvallis.
