Mixed Media Painting I & II Classes in Albany

Learn to paint using a variety of media in the class Mixed Media Painting starting April 7. The class Mixed Media Painting I uses acrylic and watercolor paints as a base while integrating a variety of other elements such as paper, ephemera and found art. All levels welcome. This four-week class meets Fridays from 2:30-4:20 p.m. starting April 7 at the Albany Senior Center, 489 Water Ave. Cost is $69. Mixed Media Painting II continues instruction from the first class, and meets for four-weeks on Fridays, 2:30-4:30 p.m., starting May 12 at the Albany Senior Center. Coast is $69. LBCC Albany fitness and dance classes begin April 3

Continue your New Year’s resolution with a variety of fitness and dance classes offered through Linn-Benton Community College in Albany starting April 3. Classes include Early Morning Fitness, Gentle Exercise for Beginners, Cardio Dance Workout, Zumba®, Better Bones and Balance®, Tai Chi, Gentle Yoga, Pilates Combo, Cowboy Dance for Couples-Beginning, and Cowboy Dance for Couples-Intermediate. Foreign Language classes in Albany start April 4

Learn a foreign language in classes offered through Community Education at Linn-Benton Community College starting April 4. Spanish for Seniors focuses on conversational Spanish with essential words, songs and phrases to help you get ready to travel more confidently in Spanish speaking countries. Learn past, present, and future verb tenses. Some previous Spanish experience recommended. LBCC to offer more classes in collaboration with Mennonite Village

In an effort to bring area residents additional services, Linn-Benton Community College and the Mennonite Village are working together to offer more classes and workshops at the Mennonite Village’s Lakeside Center. "We've had excellent participation in classes we've held at Mennonite Village and facility coordinators have invited us to offer more," shared Chris Nystrom, director of LBCC Community Education. "We have the ability to easily expand to various offsite facilities throughout Linn and Benton counties where groups may want classes. It makes it easier for customers of LBCC's community education programs to take classes when they can be conveniently offered at a local facility." Teen Horse Camp Starts Aug. 15

Experience the natural adventure of horse handling and riding in the Teen Horse Camp class held by LBCC Community Education. Working with gentle and well-trained horses, you will receive hands-on instruction in grooming, tacking up, and basic horse care. Once you have mounted your horse, master the basics of position and control in both arena and trail riding. Class is for beginning riders ages 14-18 with little horse experience. Class meets Monday through Thursday, August 15 through August 19 from 9– 11:50 a.m. at Inavale Farms in Philomath. Cost is $179. Community Art classes in Albany, Corvallis, and Lebanon

A variety of art classes, including a few new ones, are being offered through LBCC Community Education starting March 28. In the new class “Art & Etsy,” learn to polish your craft and sell your art. Bring your own product to polish up, or bring to life a new creation. Immerse yourself in product design and then create a catchy shop name and an inviting online presence. A variety of computer classes will be offered spring term through Community Education at Linn-Benton Community College, 6500 Pacific Blvd. SW, Albany.  Excel I  offers the basics of Microsoft's spreadsheet program, including the construction of formulas for math calculations, sorting, and basic functions for personal or professional use. Basic computer skills are required. This three-week class is held Tuesdays, starting March 29 from 6 to 7:50 p.m. Cost is $59. Learn woodworking skills, from introduction to advanced, in Community Education classes offered through Linn-Benton Community College spring term.   The new class Intro to General Woodworking helps you learn basic woodworking skills, home shop safety, use of hand and power tools, and project cost estimation. Learn wood joinery used to make fine furniture and experience how to make a fun project. This five-week class meets Thursdays starting March 31 from 6 to 8:50 p.m. at South Albany High School. LBCC Fitness classes starting the week of September 28

LBCC Albany Community Education has a variety fitness classes for all levels of fitness starting the week of September 28. BETTER BONES AND BALANCE: Reap the benefits OSU Bone Research studies. This exercise program slows the rate of bone loss in adults of all ages. Improve your balance, flexibility and coordination, and see an increase in muscle tone and overall body fitness. Classes begin the week of September 28 at 7 a.m., 8 a.m., 9:15 a.m., 12:15 p.m. or 5:30 p.m. at numerous locations throughout Albany. FLOW YOGA: Based on flowing, dynamic sequence of movements, which are synchronized with the breath and also includes static postures, balances and stretches. Mac Essentials Computer Class

A computer class for new Mac users or for current users who want to further their skills will be held at Linn-Benton Community College starting Oct. 13. “Mac Essentials” will cover the Mac OSX operating system's essential applications. LBCC Tractor and Farm Machinery Safety Class

Tractor and Farm Machinery Safety training will be held at Linn-Benton Community College beginning March 26. Geared for farm workers ages 14 to 18, the course is developed and operated with assistance from OSU Extension Service in accordance with federal regulations. Students and parents must sign a Liability Waiver/Indemnification form within 24 hours of registration. Two course sessions will be offered, with the first session beginning March 26 and the second session beginning June 30. Sessions meet Wednesday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:50 p.m. at LBCC’s Albany campus, Forum building room F-113, 6500 Pacific Blvd. SW. Cost for this non-credit class is $96.50. LBCC Driver Education Begins Oct. 14

Drivers Education classes at Linn-Benton Community College begin Oct. 14. The course includes Oregon state mandated 30 hours of classroom instruction, a three-hour parent/student orientation at first meeting plus 12 hours behind-the wheel practice and driver observation.  Registration requirements include completed packet, fee, original driver permit and one photocopy. Students must register at the college. Online registration is not available. Registration packets are available at all centers one week prior to registration or online at www.linnbenton.edu/driver-education. Cost for the course is $259 for ages 17 and under, $429 for ages 18 and over. Class must be dropped 24 hours prior to start date for refund. LBCC’s Driver Education program serves students throughout Linn and Benton counties and is approved by the Oregon Department of Transportation.
