LBCC Spring Choral Concert “Mozart Requiem”

“Mozart Requiem” choral concert will be held Friday, June 8 at 7:30 p.m. at Linn-Benton Community College’s Russell Tripp Performance Center, 6500 Pacific Blvd. SW, Albany LBCC award winning choirs will perform in conjunction with an orchestra, conducted by Raymund Ocampo, LBCC Choral Studies director, with soloists Patty Gerig, Sarah Brauer, Jason Caffarella, and Kevin Wyant-Stone . LBCC a cappella ensembles Sirens and Blue Light Special will perform works by Beyonce, Bruno Mars and more. Tickets are $10 general admission, $7 for students, seniors and veterans. The fall choral concert “Whispered and Revealed” will be held at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, November 30 at Linn-Benton Community College Russell Tripp Performance Center, Takena Hall, 6500 Pacific Blvd. SW, Albany. Performances include LBCC’s award-winning concert and chamber choirs conducted by Raymund Ocampo, director of choral studies, and accompanied by Kristin Rorrer, and performances by the vocal a cappella groups Blue Light Special and The Sirens. Featured choral works include Silent Night and Friendly Beasts, with the a cappella groups performing works including River and Human. LBCC Chamber Choir takes gold in international competition

The Linn-Benton Community College Chamber Choir won gold and were category winners in the Chamber Choir Division at the International Johannes Brahms Choral Competition and Festival held in Wernigerode, Germany July 5-9. Conducted by LBCC Choral Director Raymund Ocampo, the choir also won gold in the Sacred Division, and landed a spot in the Grand Champions competition, which included the best of all choirs at the festival. LBCC’s choir also performed at the closing ceremony. The International Johannes Brahms Choral Competition and Festival is hosted by Interkultur, and attracts choirs and music ensembles from around the world to compete. The winter choral concert “Cathedral Classics” will be held Thursday, March 16 at 7:30 p.m. at Linn-Benton Community College’s LBCC Russell Tripp Performance Center , Takena Hall, 6500 Pacific Blvd. SW, Albany. Performances include LBCC’s award-winning Concert and Chamber choirs conducted by LBCC Director of Choral Studies Raymund Ocampo and accompanied by Kristin Rorrer, and the a cappella groups Blue Light Special and The Sirens. The concert is an exploration of cathedral and chapel music, with Concert choir performing works of the sanctuary with grand organ and choir pieces, accompanied primarily by organ, and the Chamber choir preforming works of the chapel featuring intimate music.   Choral works include Cantique de Jean Racine, The Last Words of David, Kyrie from Mass in Eb, and Let My Love Be Heard. Jayme Frazier Congratulations to Head Volleyball Coach Jayme Frazier and team on an undefeated regular season – landing a 2nd place finish in the NWAC playoffs. In addition, Coach Frazier was named NWAC Southern Region 2016 Coach of the Year, and player Chase Bohman was named NWAC South MVP, players Alyvia Sams and Montanna Gubrud were named 1st Team All-Stars, and player Mindy Wilmes was named 2nd Team All-Star.  The college kicked-off its 50th Anniversary with cake in the Commons Tuesday, December 6, which marks the day in 1966 that Linn and Benton county voters voted by a 2 to 1 margin to establish the college. Speakers at the event included local business man and founding college board member Russell Tripp. Watch for future announcements to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the college's first classes in September 1967. Raymund Ocampo Linn-Benton Community College’s first choral concert conducted by new choral director Raymund Ocampo will be performed Thursday, Dec. 3 at 7:30 p.m. in the LBCC Russell Tripp Performance Center, Takena Hall, 6500 Pacific Blvd. SW, Albany. "Home is Where Hope Abides" features LBCC's award-winning Concert Choir, Re-Choired Element Chamber Choir, and the vocal a cappella groups Blue Light Special and The Sirens. Penny Bazanele will accompany on piano. Choral works to be performed include: “My Lord has Come” by British composer Will Todd; “I’ll Be Home for Christmas” arranged by the late Steve Zegree; “We Three Kings” arranged by Darmon Meader; “Unclouded Day” by Shawn Kirchner; “Homeward Bound” arranged by Jay Althouse; “A La Nanita Nana” arranged by Ed Henderson; and “Festival Sanctus” by John Leavitt.
