LBCC students named to All Oregon Academic Team

Three Linn-Benton Community College students were named to the Oregon Community College Association All Oregon Academic Team. Benjamin Hauser of Albany, Joshua James of Albany, and Mark Bzik of Salem will be honored by Governor Kate Brown at the State Capitol April 23. The students will receive a plaque from the OCCA and a scholarship to the university they plan to attend if completing their bachelor’s degrees. In addition, Hauser was named as Oregon’s Coca-Cola Community College Academic Team Bronze Scholar, and Bzik was named New Century Scholars Workforce Pathway Scholar. The Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation sponsors the Coca-Cola Community College Academic Team, which provides scholarships to gold, silver and bronze scholars. LBCC Students Named to OCCA All Oregon Academic Team

Two Linn-Benton Community College students have been named to the Oregon Community College Association All Oregon Academic Team. Alyssa Stillian of Corvallis and Eric Slyter of Albany will be honored at a luncheon with the governor at the State Capitol April 17. Stillian, a mechanical engineering major and active member of LBCC Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, participates in the college ROV Club and tutor’s math at the college.  Slyter, a chemistry major and active member of LBCC Phi Theta Kappa, is president of LBCC Student Leadership Council, a member of the College Coach team and tutor’s science at the college. Both students will receive a plaque from the OCCA and a $1,000 scholarship from the university they plan to attend to complete their bachelor’s degrees. Taylor Megy Chelsey Mick Two Linn-Benton Community College students have been named to the Oregon Community College Association All Oregon Academic Team. Economics major Taylor Megy, of Corvallis, and psychology and political science dual major Chelsey Mick, of Corvallis, will be honored at a luncheon with Governor Kate Brown April 27. Megy is an active member of LBCC Phi Theta Kappa Honor Roll Society, and serves as an intern with the Oregon legislature and as a member of the college Progression Management Council. He is a member of the LBCC ROV Club and the Board Game Club, and volunteers at Linn-Benton Food Share. Mick is also an active member of LBCC Phi Theta Kappa and is part of the LBCC Student Government. She is founder and officer LBCC’s Human and Civil Rights Club, and is an active member in several college clubs including Gay Straight Alliance and Active Minds, and serves as a psychology and sociology tutor.
