LBCC Calapooia Gallery Features Student Artist Audra Mote
"Girl on Steps" charcoal drawing by Audra Mote. |
Mote is showing a selection of her paintings, drawings and calligraphy through Jan. 31.
A resident of Corvallis who grew up in Quebec and Vermont, Mote is in her second year of the LBCC graphic arts program. She has an undergraduate degree in languages and took post-graduate studies in calligraphy, drawing and painting before enrolling at LBCC in 2012.
Her collection of calligraphy and art on display in the Calapooia Center Gallery contains pieces that take their inspiration from things that have special meaning for her, including family ties, poignant words and beautiful views. The charcoal drawing titled "Girl on Steps" is especially meaningful, she said, because it is a study from a photograph of a girl who was the victim of the child sex trade in Cambodia. That work won a Juror's Choice Award in last spring's Art Student Juried Show.
The LBCC Calapooia Center is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and evenings when events are scheduled.
