LBCC First Travel at the Tripp Film Series “Hawaii, America’s Paradise”
Filmmaker Dan Van Polen will
present the film “Hawaii, America’s
Paradise,” the first show in the LBCC Travel at the Tripp film series, on
Sunday, Sept. 16 at 2 p.m. in the Linn-Benton Community College Russell Tripp
Performance Center.
Mark Twain once
said that Hawaii is “a string of tropical islands floating in just the right
place.” Van Polen will take you to five main islands to see how each one is
different: from towering volcanic peaks looming over fields of sugar cane and
pineapple, to warm blue seas with some of the highest surf found anywhere.
Don and Fran Van
Polen have photographed these islands for the last several years and now bring
to you in digital video, not only beautiful scenery, but the fascinating
stories and music of Hawaii.
Travel atthe Tripp is produced by LBCC Performing Arts and AAA Travel Services. Join the
filmmaker and experts from AAA Travel after the show for a question and answer
session, with prizes from AAA given at each show.
Volunteers with SafeHaven Humane Society will sell coffee,
tea and homemade baked goods during the show’s intermission. Proceeds support
SafeHaven Humane Society, Albany’s non-profit animal shelter.
Ticket
prices are $8 for each show, $6.50 for students/seniors, or $25 for a season
pass to all four films. All films will be shown on Sundays at 2 p.m. in the
LBCC Russell Tripp Performance Center in Takena Hall, 6500 Pacific Blvd. SW,
Albany.
