Students attending Linn-Benton Community College's new Health Occupations Center will benefit from a $5,000 gift by Linn-Co Federal Credit Union, which will help provide state-of-the-art medical equipment to train students on the skills needed for a fast-changing health care field.

“All of us at Linn-Co Federal CU are pleased to be able to support LBCC with their new Health Occupations Center," said Carol Cromwell, CEO of Linn-Co FCU. "This facility brings expanded occupational training opportunities for future students and a skilled workforce for the growing healthcare industry. Both of these are very positive benefits gained from this new LBCC Center.”

The new 41,500-square-foot center, currently under construction on the Samaritan Health Lebanon campus, will bring LBCC’s 10 health care programs into one space, providing greater opportunity for collaboration between programs and health care partners.

“We are so grateful to have the support of community businesses like Linn-Co Federal Credit Union,” said Linda Carroll, dean of LBCC Healthcare. “Their belief in the impact LBCC will have on the future of health care in our community is remarkable.”

The $16 million construction project is being funded by $8 million in voter-approved bond funds, which was matched by $8 million from the state of Oregon.

The LBCC Foundation is leading a campaign to raise an additional $1 million in private support for the purchase of updated training equipment for the new facility, scheduled to be open for students in 2017.
