LBCC Chamber Choir Ranked Among Top Choirs Worldwide

The Linn-Benton Community College Re-Choired Element Chamber Choir was recently ranked 607 out of the top 1,000 choirs worldwide by Interkultur World Rankings.

The choir received 800 out of a possible 1,170 points in the ranking system. The choir also ranked in the top 200 for Mixed Choirs from throughout the world.

"It is absolutely an honor for the students and the music program,” said James Reddan, LBCC music faculty and choral director. “It is truly a testament to all of the hard work of the students and all that they have worked for!"

Founded in 1988 in Germany, Interkultur hosts international choral competitions. High-ranking international adjudicators evaluate the choirs according to the Musica Mundi evaluation system.

Choirs are ranked based on categories such as performance and reputation throughout the world, with only the top 1,000 choirs from across the globe being recognized. The Interkultur World Rankings make it possible to get an impressive overall comparison of all choirs that have participated in the Interkultur competitions.

The LBCC choirs will perform in London in June during the festivities leading up to the Summer Olympics.
