Earth Day Lecture: “An ice core perspective on Climate Change, the last Ice Age, and Shakespeare”

Dr. Christo Buizert
Dr. Christo Buizert, assistant professor at Oregon State University College of Earth, Ocean and Atmospheric Sciences, will give a presentation titled “An ice core perspective on Climate Change, the last Ice Age, and Shakespeare” Thursday, April 21 from 12 to 12:50 p.m. at Linn-Benton Community College’s Madrone Hall, room MH-113.

The presentation is part of the annual LBCC Earth Day Celebration, which runs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the college courtyard, 6500 Pacific Blvd. SW, Albany.

Buizert’s research uses ice cores from the polar-regions as a way to understand past climate change and the evolution of Earth's atmosphere. He has been involved in multiple ice core drilling expeditions in both Greenland and Antarctica, and currently works as an assistant professor in the ice core laboratory at OSU.

The lecture and Earth Day Celebration are free and open to the public. For more information and a list of Earth Day activities, see the online events listing at www.linnbenton.edu.
