South Santiam Hall Gallery Exhibit Features OSU Fine Art Grads

Abstract painting by Johnny Beaver.
Recent OSU graduates Johnny Beaver, Milla Oliveira, Francisco Morales and Amy Gibson will showcase their work at Linn-Benton Community College’s South Santiam Hall Gallery through October 26.

The exhibit titled “Connecting Territories” spans painting, drawing, printmaking, and sculpture.

A reception and artist talk will be held from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Thursday Oct. 12 at the gallery.  Light refreshments will be provided.

Beaver’s abstract and stylized narratives are a window into his personal experiences with mental health issues, and provide a unique and colorful perspective on the subject. Oliveira’s immense paintings invite viewers to get lost in vibrant color where technique and brush stroke create an exclusive experience for each individual.

Morales puts forth black and white art of various sizes in woodcut, intaglio, linocut, and lithography, detailing surreal and religious themes. Gibson’s experimental mediums provoke thoughts and awe as she proves nothing is forbidden in art.

LBCC Art Galleries are free and open to the public. Gallery hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
