Calapooia Center Gallery Exhibit “Immetal works of Artgon”
An exhibit of mixed-media welding installations from west coast native Zoe Hans, titled “Immetal Works of Artgon” will be on display through May 26 in the Calapooia College Center Gallery at Linn-Benton Community College, 6500 Pacific Blvd. SW, Albany.
An artist reception will be held in the Gallery Wednesday, May 17 from 12 to 1 p.m. The reception is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be provided.
Hans will graduate with a degree in Welding from LBCC in June. She has been welding since high school when she was on the robotics team. After college graduation, she plans to pursue a career as a pipe welder and ultimately become a non-destructive testing technician.
Hans’ exhibit plays off the idea of immortal works of art with metal and argon, the noble gas used in welding. Her show features plasma cut images, while exploring different industrial mediums for art. Through her work, Hans combines artistic skill with the industrial studies she gained through LBCC.
All LBCC art galleries are free and open to the public weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information, visit the Gallery website at linnbenton.edu/artgallery.
