High School “Improv Smackdown,” West vs. South, Dec. 2, 7:30 p.m.

The first high school “Improv Smackdown” between West Albany and South Albany high school’s will be held Friday, December 2 at 7:30 p.m. in the LBCC Russell Tripp Performance Center, 6500 Pacific Blvd. SW, Albany.

It's the "comedy brawl in Takena Hall" as improv troupes from South Albany and West Albany exchange gut-busters and knee-slappers in their first improv show, based on the popular Smackdown shows at the Majestic Theatre in Corvallis.

This showcase of short-form improv comedy (think "Whose Line Is It Anyway?") features top-shelf student performers taking turns playing improv games using audience suggestions and "competing" for your laughter and applause.

Each team is playing for a charity: West is playing for Heartland Humane Society, and South is playing for SafeHaven, with a portion of each ticket sale going to that team's respective charity, based on how many fans each school brings.

When buying tickets, state which school you support, West, South, or both ("both” results in a split donation for both charities). The school that raises the most money gets bragging rights until next year.

Tickets are $5 and can be purchased online at linnbenton.edu/tickets, or in the Russell Tripp theater box office one hour before the show.

For more information, contact the box office at 541-917-4531, theater@linnbenton.edu.
