9th Annual Unity Celebration Feb. 28, 4:30-6:30 p.m., Fireside Room

The 9th annual “Unity Celebration” will be held at Linn-Benton Community College Wednesday, February 28 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the Fireside Room, Calapooia Center room CC-211, 6500 Pacific Blvd. SW, Albany.

The free event recognizes people and organizations whose work establishes unity and inclusivity while promoting diversity and social justice on the college campus and in the community.

This year’s guest lecturer is Frank Thompson, former superintendent of the Oregon Department of Corrections and the National Coalition to Abolish the Death Penalty. LBCC Poetry Club will also perform.

Awards given include The Analee Fuentes Unity award, presented to an LBCC student, a staff member and a faculty member; and the Gary Westford Community Connection award presented to an individual or organization.
