Travel at the Tripp Film Series “Discovering the Dutch”
Join filmmaker Sandy Mortimer as she presents the first film in the LBCC Travel at the Tripp film series “Discovering the Dutch” on Sunday, Oct. 10 at 2 p.m. in the Linn-Benton Community College Russell Tripp Performance Center.
Take a journey that goes beyond the clichés and gabled houses and into the stories of Dutch history. On this tour of the Netherlands, you will visit nine of the twelve Provinces and discover the little known and fascinating aspects of this culture. From incredible Amsterdam to the North Sea and the borders of Germany and Belgium, the Netherlands is more than tulips and windmills.
Mortimer’s career has ranged from politics to television production to travel films. A former flight attendant for American Airlines, she also served as public speaker and travel consultant for the airline, traveling extensively throughout the United States and the world. Mortimer’s films have been shown on foreign television and are available on videotape in schools and libraries.
Travel at the Tripp is produced by LBCC Performing Arts and AAA Travel Services. Experts from AAA Travel will on hand along with the filmmaker to answer your travel questions, with prizes from AAA given at each show.
SafeHaven Humane Society volunteers will sell coffee, tea and homemade baked goods during intermission at each of this season’s Travel at the Tripp films. Cookies, brownies and muffins along with a variety of pies will be available for purchase. Proceeds support SafeHaven Humane Society, Albany’s non-profit animal shelter, which provides dog and cat adoptions, low cost spay/neuter, and other vital services to the community.
Ticket prices are $8 for each show, $6.50 for students/seniors, or $24 for a season pass to all four films. All films will be shown on Sundays at 2 p.m. in the LBCC Russell Tripp Performance Center in Takena Hall, 6500 Pacific Blvd. SW, Albany.
