Spanish Private Applicator and Pesticides Laws & Safety Classes

Do you have an employee who has studied hard but failed the Oregon Department of Agriculture pesticide applicator license exam? Do you have an employee who needs in-depth training in pesticide application and safety, or extra coaching in math and calibration skills needed for accurate applications? 

 The Small Business Development Center at Linn-Benton Community College is offering courses designed to prepare your senior agriculture workers to take the State of Oregon Department of Agriculture pesticide applicator exam. Spanish Private Applicator will be held Thursday, Feb. 14 from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., and Friday, Feb.15 from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the LBCC Calapooia Center, room CC-103, 6500 Pacific Blvd. SW, Albany. Cost for this non-credit class is $99.

 Pesticides Laws and Safety for public and commercial applications will be held Feb. 21 and 22 from 8 a.m. to noon both days in the LBCC Calapooia Center, room CC-213. Cost for this non-credit class is $99.

LBCC Polysomnographic Technology Free Information Sessions

Free information sessions for those interested in becoming a Polysomnographic Technologist, or sleep technician, will be held at Linn-Benton Community College. The information sessions will be held on Feb. 13, 10 a.m.-Noon, room CC-210; and Feb. 25, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., room CC-203. Both sessions will be held in the LBCC Calapooia Center building, 6500 Pacific Blvd. SW, Albany. Attendance at one of the information sessions is mandatory before applying for the program. Polysomnographic Technologists assist physicians with patients who have sleep disorders, such as sleep apnea. The program combines online and in-class instruction with a clinical practicum where students learn how to administer, score and interpret a variety of sleep disorders and their treatments. LMT Continuing Education Workshop

Linn-Benton Community College will hold a continuing education workshop for License Massage Therapists on “The Spine” March 16 and 17.

 Techniques covered in this workshop include how to work with shoulder and pelvic asymmetries, how to identify and address spinal rotations, bends and shifts, and specific psoas and abdominal release techniques.

LBCC Offers Forklift Safety Training

Forklift Safety Training will be offered through LBCC Business and Employer Services Saturday, Feb. 23, from 8:15 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the LBCC Albany Campus, Industrial C-103, 6500 Pacific Blvd. SW, Albany. This eight-hour course will provide four hours of classroom training and four hours of practice on the forklift. Training includes forklift safety, handling and moving loads, principles of lifting, stacking and un-stacking loads and driving with a load. Upon completion of eight hours of training and meeting the requirements, student will receive an award of completion to take to their current or future employer. Gallery Reception for Four Northwest Artists

John Van Dreal "Again #2" A public reception and gallery hosting four Willamette Valley artists whose work is on display in the North Santiam Hall Gallery at Linn-Benton Community College will be held Wednesday, Jan. 30, from noon to 1 p.m. in the NSH second floor atrium, 6500 Pacific Blvd. SW, Albany.  Eugene sketchbook artist Ken O’Connell and Salem painter John Van Dreal share the NSH gallery walls with multi-media artist Shelley Jordon and photographer Julia Bradshaw, who are both faculty at Oregon State University in Corvallis. In addition, O’Connell will lead a workshop at 2 p.m. Wednesday on the use of sketchbooks in the art and design process in the Fireside Room, second floor of the Calapooia Center building. The artists will be exhibiting on both floors of the NSH Gallery through March 1. Gallery hours are from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. weekdays.

Lebanon Center Photoshop Elements II



Learn how to edit and show your digital photographs in Photoshop Elements II class offered at the LBCC Lebanon Center, 44 Industrial Way.

 Go beyond the basics to perfect your photos. Learn about layers, touch-up, restoring, special effects, slide shows and more. Class will meet at the Lebanon Center on Thursdays from 6 to 8:50 p.m. beginning Feb. 14. Cost for this five-week class is $54 plus a $3 Fee.

Seniors age 62 and above are eligible for a 25 percent reduction in tuition. Reduction does not apply to fees.

LBCC Hosts College Transfer Day

Oregon College Transfer Day Information Fair will be held at Linn-Benton Community College on Wednesday, Feb. 6 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Takena Hall, 6500 Pacific Blvd S.W., Albany. This free event is geared toward students interested in transferring to four-year colleges.
