Beginning Guitar starts Jan. 9, Benton Center

A new “Beginning Guitar” class will be held at the LBCC Benton Center starting January 9. Class will meet for group lessons designed to build skills and knowledge of music theory for the beginning guitar player or intermediate players to refresh and reinforce their skills. This eight-week class meets Tuesdays from 6 to 7:50 p.m. starting Jan. 9 at the LBCC Benton Center, 757 Polk Ave. NW, Corvallis. Cost is $99. International Ballroom Dance for beginners starts Jan. 11

International Ballroom Dance class for beginners will be held through Linn-Benton Community College Community Education starting January 11. Learn basic techniques, steps and several figures in four ballroom dances including cha-cha, rumba, jive and waltz. Dance partner required. This eight-week class meets Thursdays from 7:30 to 8:50 p.m. starting January 11 at the LBCC Activities Center, 6500 Pacific Blvd. SW, Albany. Cost is $65. Registration now Open for CTE Signing Day

Registration is now open for the National Career and Technical Education Signing Day, to be held Thursday, February 15 from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Linn-Benton Community College, 6500 Pacific Blvd. SW, Albany. The event is open to high school seniors, GED earners or those planning to enroll in one of LBCC Career Technical Education programs. eBay Selling Strategies starts Jan. 22, Lebanon Center

The class Ebay Selling Strategies will be held at the LBCC Lebanon Center starting January 22. Learn how to effectively use eBay to start an online business, sell your items, explore shopping options and popular marketplace services, create ads, and learn strategies to get results and protect yourself as both buyer and seller. Basic computer skills needed. This three-week class meets Mondays from 6 to 7:50 p.m. starting January 22 at the LBCC Lebanon Center, 44 Industrial Way. Cost is $59. Cooking classes in Albany start Jan. 18

Learn to cook soups, stews and all things chocolate in cooking classes offered through LBCC Community Education this winter. Classic Soups and Stews covers classic soups such as chicken noodle, tomato, clam chowder and beef, pork, hominy and butternut stews. This two-week class meets Thursdays from 6 to 8:50 p.m. starting January 18 at the LBCC Albany campus, 6500 Pacific Blvd. SW. Cost is $69. In the class All Things Chocolate, learn to cut, melt and temper chocolate to make Ganache, truffles and a variety of chocolate desserts, garnishes and confections. Class meets Saturday, February 10 from 12 to 4:50 p.m. at LBCC Albany campus. Cost is $69. “Ishi: A Century Later” class starts Jan. 22, Benton Center

The class “Ishi: A Century Later” will be held at the LBCC Benton Center starting January 22. This history class looks at one of the most amazing native stories from the West, taking place near Chico, California, where a small family group survived the extermination of their tribe in the 1860’s and hid for 40 years until only Ishi was left. Class focuses on Ishi’s years in San Francisco and what they reveal of his nature and his Yahi cultural and spiritual resources, beliefs and practices that helped keep him sane, un-bitter and kind. This four-week class meets Mondays from 7 to 8:50 p.m. at the LBCC Benton Center in Corvallis. Cost is $49. Drivers Ed Registration Open, Classes start Jan. 1

Registration is now open for Driver Education courses at Linn-Benton Community College. Classes start the first week of January and will be held in Albany, Corvallis and Lebanon. Course includes Oregon State mandated 30 hours of classroom instruction, a one-time parent/student orientation plus 12 hours behind-the wheel practice and driver observation. Cost for the course is $265 for ages 17 and under, $445 for ages 18 and over. Upon successful completion of the course, students under the age of 18  qualify for a car skills testing waiver when obtaining their Driver’s License.
