LBCC Holds Black History Month Extravaganza

A Black History Month Extravaganza will be held in the Linn-Benton Community College Diversity Achievement Center on Tuesday, Feb 28 from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m., 6500 Pacific Blvd. SW, Albany.

LBCC President Dr. Greg Hamann will introduce the artwork of LBCC student and mural artist Spike Keenan.

In addition, there will be a poetry performance “Spoken Word in Harmony,” with LBCC counselor Mark Weiss as Blues Man; a Jazz Piano and Poetry Duet performance; a Martin Luther King Readers' Theater; a video on racial equality; and a Harriet Jacobs "Loophole" installation.

There will be an open-mic for participants to read their favorite poems or readings; and anthologies of African American poetry to draw from for your readings.

Refreshments will be served. This event is free and open to the public and sponsored by the LBCC Poetry Club and Student Life and Leadership.
