Pesticide Applicator classes in English, Spanish

Pesticide applicator classes in English and Spanish will be held at Linn-Benton Community College starting November 30. Designed to prepare senior agriculture workers to take the State of Oregon Department of Agriculture pesticide applicator exam, classes provide in-depth training, including extra coaching in math and calibration skills. Course may be used for recertification credits. Pesticide Applicator in Spanish meets Nov. 30 from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., and Dec. 1 from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at LBCC’s Calapooia Center, room CC-205. Cost is $119. Pesticide Applicator in English meets Dec. 7 from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., and Dec. 8 from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at LBCC’s Calapooia Center, room CC-213. Cost is $119. New Writing Class: Collage Night

Learn the media of open form collage art in the class “Collage Night” starting September 27 at LBCC Benton Center. Learn to dig deeper into your writing process or just have fun with open form collage. Supplies provided. This eight-week class meets Wednesdays from 6:30 to 8:20 p.m. starting Sept. 27 at LBCC Benton Center, 757 NW Polk Ave, Corvallis. Cost is $69. New writing classes at Benton Center

LBCC is offering three new writing classes at the LBCC Benton Center that start September 26. “The Writer’s Ready Room” will help you improve your skills via Lill Ahren’s fun and supportive conversational method of feedback. By asking and answering questions about your writing projects, learn: what's working, what needs clarification, and the tricks and techniques of famous writers. Many works critiqued in this class are now published award-winners. Nine-week class meets Tuesdays, 6-9:20 p.m. starting Sept. 26. Cost is $120. “First Person: Biographical Storytelling” helps you shape your life experiences into stories to share. Fashioned in the style of “The Moth Radio Hour,” this class will not only improve your biographical storytelling abilities and confidence, but you'll also get to know more members of the community and hear the captivating stories that make them tick. Write your life story classes start Sept. 26

Learn to tell your life story in classes offered in Albany, Lebanon, and Corvallis.  The class “Life Stories” will help you preserve your family stories. Recall and recount family history in your own narrative style with enhancement of detail, description and dialogue. Tips on publishing to submit stories to magazines as fact or fiction. This eight-week class meets Tuesdays, 2-3:50 p.m. starting Sept. 26 at Song Bird Village, 215 SE 21st Ave., Albany, or Wednesdays, 2-3:50 p.m. starting Sept. 27 at the LBCC Lebanon Center, 44 Industrial Way. Cost is $69. The same class, titled “Write Your Life Story,” will be held at the Corvallis Senior Center from 1 to 2:50 p.m. on Fridays starting Sept. 29. Cost is $69. Internet Self-Defense starts Sept. 26

Learn about cyber security in the class Internet Self-Defense held at Linn-Benton Community College starting Sept. 26. Computer classes for senior start Sept. 25

Computer classes designed for seniors with little or no computer experience will be held through Linn-Benton Community College Extended Learning starting September 25. COMPUTER ESSENTIALS FOR SENIORS I. Designed for those who have never touched a computer before. Hands-on, step-by-step instruction at an easy pace. Learn the various parts of the computer, how to turn it on and off and use the mouse and keyboard. Class introduces working with Windows, and brief intro to email and the Internet. This three-week class meets Mondays starting Sept. 25, 6-7:50 p.m. at LBCC Albany campus, Forum 202. Cost is $59. COMPUTER ESSENTIALS FOR SENIORS II.  Continue your computer exploration.
