LBCC Short Term Training Information Sessions

LBCC Short Term Training will hold free monthly information sessions for Pharmacy Technician and Veterinary Assistant programs. LBCC Offers QuickBooks Classes

Learn the basics of QuickBooks in classes offered through Linn-Benton Community College Small Business Development Center. Guided Tour QuickBooks is a four-hour class designed for those with no previous experience using a computer-based accounting system. Class meets Sept. 20 and 22 from 2 to 3:50 p.m. in the LBCC Forum building, room F-202, 6500 Pacific Blvd. SW, Albany. Cost for this non-credit class is $79.  QuickBooks I is designed to help you set up an accounting system using QuickBooks 2015. This 10-hour class meets Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:30 to 4:20 p.m. from Oct. 6-20 in LBCC’s Forum building, room F-202. Cost for this non-credit class is $219. LBCC Real Estate Broker Pre-License Exam

A Real Estate Broker Pre-License Exam course will be offered through Linn-Benton Community College starting September 28. Designed to prepare you for the Oregon Real Estate Broker License Exam, this 150-hour hybrid course is the fastest way to qualify to take the state exam. This 10-week course will meet on Wednesdays from 6 to 9 p.m. beginning September 28 at the LBCC Albany campus, 6500 Pacific Blvd SW, room CC-212. The course content will be mostly Internet based. Students are expected to have online capability, able to self-study and attend all class sessions. A mandatory study session will be held on Saturday, the last day of the class. Cost for this non-credit course is $600. LBCC Real Estate Property Manager Course

A Real Estate Property Manager course will be offered through Linn-Benton Community College beginning September 29.  Designed to prepare you to manage rental property, this course combines online and in-class instruction to meet the 60-hour requirement for the Oregon Property Manager Pre-License course. This seven-week class will meet on Thursdays from 6 to 8 p.m. beginning September 29 at the LBCC Albany campus, 6500 Pacific Blvd SW, room CC-212. Cost for this non-credit course is $550. Foundations of Business Success Class

The class Foundations of Business Success will be held through the Small Business Development Center at Linn-Benton Community College beginning September 20. Learn how to create and assess a business plan for a start-up or new business in this 10 week course.  Other topics include: financial management, pricing, cash flow, marketing, sales, legal topics, insurance needs, bookkeeping systems, market research, and exploring the lifestyle of a business owner. One-on-one advising included. A free orientation will be held Tuesday, September 13, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Calapooia Center, at LBCC, room CC-211. The 10-week class will meet Tuesdays from 6 to 8:50 p.m. beginning September 20. Cost is based on income. The fee is determined and paid at orientation. "Think It! Make It!" Camp a Success

The first "Think It! Make It!" camp was held at LBCC June 27-30, providing a hands-on learning experience for about 24 local middle school students who learned how to design and build a product from start to finish. Organized by the Pipeline to Jobs project and taught by LBCC instructors, the camp gave students a hands-on taste of LBCC industrial programs in computer aided design and drafting (CADD), welding , mechatronics and machine tool , where they learned the operation of various manufacturing machinery under the close supervision of college instructors and trainers. Students also toured local manufacturing facilities to learn about the different jobs, what skills and training are required, and how those businesses developed. The companies shared how the business started, applying basic entrepreneurship principles to understand how a single product idea becomes a business. Teen Horse Camp Starts Aug. 15

Experience the natural adventure of horse handling and riding in the Teen Horse Camp class held by LBCC Community Education. Working with gentle and well-trained horses, you will receive hands-on instruction in grooming, tacking up, and basic horse care. Once you have mounted your horse, master the basics of position and control in both arena and trail riding. Class is for beginning riders ages 14-18 with little horse experience. Class meets Monday through Thursday, August 15 through August 19 from 9– 11:50 a.m. at Inavale Farms in Philomath. Cost is $179. Construction Projects Get Time Lapse Cameras

Steel framing work on HOC building in Lebanon. Time-lapse cameras have been installed at both the Advanced Transportation Technology Center (ATTC) and the new Health Occupations Center (HOC) construction sites, providing a daily view of the construction which is compressed into a brief video. Go to the building projects site, click on either the ATTC link or the HOC link. The site also includes the latest updates on all LBCC bond and seismic grant projects. The ATTC project includes a new building for the Heavy Equipment Diesel program and the creation of an Innovation Center to provide space for worker and industry training. Expected completion date is end of summer 2016. The new 42,000-square-foot HOC building is located adjacent to COMP-NW Medical School in Lebanon, on the Samaritan hospital site. Unlock the keys to game design by choosing your own adventure in Video Game Odyssey class for kids ages 11-17. Learn to design special top-down adventure games like Pokemon or Zelda with unlimited rooms and levels to compete with friends and become a game design master.
