LBCC Hosts 6th Annual African American Youth Leadership Conference
LBCC will host the 6th annual African American Youth Leadership Conference, to be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 10 in the Forum building.
More than 250 middle and high school students are expected for the conference, including students from Albany and Corvallis.
The goals of the conference are to promote positive youth development in African-American youth and multicultural youth of African descent by:
* Raising awareness on how to achieve personal goals.
* Emphasizing the value of education.
* Empowering future leadership and encouraging responsibility.
* Establishing a sense of community.
* Increasing self-esteem and affirming cultural awareness.
The conference theme is P.R.I.D.E., which stands for Proud Responsible Individuals Dedicated to Excellence.
