LBCC 2nd Annual Earth Day Sustainability Fair

The 2nd Annual Earth Day Sustainability Fair at Linn-Benton Community College will be held Wednesday, April 18 from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the college courtyard, 6500 Pacific Blvd. SW, Albany.

Learn about green college programs including solar energy, alternative fuel cell technology, and college efforts on bike transportation, composting and recycling.

Tour the Green Roof on White Oak Hall and the organic farm and garden, and buy some fresh produce from the garden at a farmers market.

Meghan Dalton with OSU’s Oregon Climate Change Research Institute and Pacific Northwest Climate Impacts Research Consortium will give a presentation on "Understanding the Science of Climate Change and Impacts in the Pacific Northwest" from Noon to 1 p.m. in Madrone Hall, room MH-113.

Kim Kagelaris and Ed Hodney with the City of Albany will provide information on resource protection initiatives, the Talking Waters project, the East Thornton Lake Natural Area, water conservation, and storm water pollution prevention.

Kathleen Nickerson, Willamette Valley Outreach Coordinator, will provide information on Pacific Power's Blue Sky Renewable Energy Program. The Green Team from Albany First United Methodist Church will hand out their Reuse Directory, which offers locations in the community where gently used items may be taken for re-use.

Sustainability posters designed by graphic arts student Jasper Hostler will be on display in the college Library. The Bookstore will showcase their “green” merchandise that helps fund campus recycling efforts.

The LBCC Sustainability Committee and student Green Club will have tables showcasing campus sustainability initiatives and information on recycling and composting on campus.

The Earth Day Sustainability Fair is free and open to the public and sponsored by the LBCC Green Club and the LBCC Sustainability Committee.
