LBCC Choir Concert “Say it With Song: Live, Love, Laugh, Sing!”
The LBCC choirs will perform “Say it With Song: Live, Love, Laugh, Sing!” on Thursday, March 10 at 7:30 p.m. in the Russell Tripp Performance Center, LBCC Takena Hall, 6500 Pacific Blvd. SW, Albany.
LBCC music instructor James Reddan will conduct performances of LBCC’s award-winning Re-Choired Element Chamber Choir, Concert Choir, Men's Ensemble, Women's Ensemble, The Blue Light Special, and the Sirens. Diana Hancock will accompany on piano, with Jason Caffarella conducting the LBCC Men’s Ensemble. Re-Choired Element Chamber Choir was recently featured at the 2011 OMEA and All-Northwest Music Educators Conventions.
The concert is a tribute to the importance of the combination of words and music to express the human condition. The pairing of music and words has always been a wonderful way to express any type of thought or emotion, says James Reddan. For many, the pairing of words and music often is the way that we can express the true way we feel or think, he added.
The concert will feature a mix of wonderful pieces from throughout the choral repertoire. Classics include Durufle's "Ubi Caritas" from the Quatre Motets, Faure's "Pie Jesu" from Requiem, Parker's "Hark I Hear the Harps Eternal", and Mechem's "Blow Ye the Trumpet" rounding out a mix of wonderful pieces about the many messages that can be communicated through song. Additional pieces include works by Victoria, Saint-Saens, and multicultural works including Lange's "Esto Les Digo", Se Enkenbayar's "Naiman Sharag" and Eric Whitacre's "A Boy and a Girl,” along with featured student soloists.
The vocal a cappella groups will feature pieces such as "Ain't Misbehavin," "And So it Goes," "Signed, Sealed, Delivered, I'm Yours" and "Drift Away" as you may have never heard them before!
Performance tickets are $7 general admission, $5 for students and seniors.
