SSH Gallery Reception for Photographer Susie Morrill
A public reception and gallery talk for Eugene photographer Susie Morrill will be held on Thursday, Jan. 13, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the South Santiam Hall Gallery at Linn-Benton Community College, 6500 Pacific Blvd. SW, Albany.
“Portraits in Place,” a collection of farmers, families and colorful individuals by Morrill, will be on exhibit at the gallery through Jan. 28.
The exhibit features 20 of Morrill’s black-and-white prints of “ordinary Oregonians” who work and live in the southern Willamette Valley. Morrill’s approach to portraiture is direct and engaging, showing us fathers and sons, homeless families, ranchers with their dogs, and other characters she has met in her nearly three decades in photography.
Morrill is a long-time member of the PhotoZone Gallery in Eugene and chairperson of the Photography at Oregon Committee, which sponsors exhibits, workshops and lectures by photographers of national stature in the Eugene area. She also teaches photography part-time at Lane Community College.
LBCC’s South Santiam Hall Gallery hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
