New Year Fitness Classes

Get your New Year off to a fit start in a fitness class offered by LBCC Community Education staring January 4.

EARLY MORNING FITNESS
Join this class for early risers! Includes warm up activities, stretching, flexibility, walking and strength training with light hand weights. Participants with physical limitations will be given special attention. 11-weeks long beginning January 4, class meets on Mondays, Wednesdays & Fridays from 8-8:50am at the Albany Senior Center. Cost is $89.       

GENTLE EXERCISE FOR BEGINNERS
Gentle, joint-safe exercises developed specifically for people with arthritis or musculoskeletal conditions, fibromyalgia, COPD, and anyone who is sedentary with limited or impaired joint-mobility. This program will help relieve stiffness, strengthen muscles, improve balance and decrease arthritis pain. Low-impact exercises can be done while sitting, standing or on the floor. 11-weeks long beginning January 4, class meets on Mondays, Wednesdays & Fridays from 12-12:50 a.m. at the, LBCC Campus. Cost is $89.       

CARDIO DANCE WORKOUT
A refreshing alternative to traditional aerobics.  Get both cardiovascular and muscular gains with beautiful dance routines.  Develop strength, increase energy, burn calories, tone arms, abdominals, hips and legs. 11-weeks long beginning January 4, class meets on Mondays &Wednesdays from 5:15-6:05pm at the Cool Swanson Action Center. Cost is $79.

CARDIO CORE CONDITIONING
An exercise program designed to condition the cardiovascular system, tone and strengthen muscles and increase flexibility. 11-weeks long beginning on January 6 and meet on Tuesdays & Thursdays from 9-9:50 a.m. at the Albany Boys' & Girls' Club. Cost is $69.

BETTER BONES & BALANCE
Reap the benefits OSU Bone Research Lab studies have shown. This exercise program will significantly slow the rate of bone loss in adults of all ages. Improve your balance, flexibility and coordination, and see an increase in muscle tone and overall body fitness.  Cost varies based on specific class. Classes meet at the Cool Swanson Action Center for 11-weeks starting the week of January 4 include: Monday, Wednesday, Fridays 7-7:50am; Monday, Wednesday, Fridays 8-8:50am; and Tuesdays & Thursdays from 12:15-1:05pm.

Also, an 11-week class beginning January 4, one class meets on Mondays, Wednesdays & Fridays from 9:15-10:05am at the Lakeside Center, Mennonite Village, Albany.

TAI CHI CHUAN             
A form of meditative movement that originated in China. Teaches mind/body harmony and how to cultivate internal energy, chi. Accomplishes relaxation, relief from stress and promotes general well-being. There are two class options. One begins January 5, and meets on Mondays from 10:30-11:20 a.m. located at the Albany Senior Center. Cost is $55.       

GENTLE YOGA
Gentle Yoga poses geared for the beginning student. A slow paced class emphasizing the coordination of breathing with easy stretching. Please bring yoga mat and blanket. 11-weeks long. Class offerings for Gentle Yoga at the Albany Senior Center: held from 1-1:50p.m., 2-2:50 p.m., or 3-3:50 p.m. starting January 4. Cost is $69.

PILATES COMBO
Pilates is a series of low-impact exercises that concentrates on building strong abdominal muscles, which improves balance and coordination. Pilates combo format involves toning with light weights, balancing, and mat workout using a combination of yoga and pilates moves. 11-weeks long beginning January 5, meets on Tuesdays & Thursdays from 6:15-7:05 p.m. at the Albany Senior Center. Cost is $79.
