Nonbinary Gender Identities Presentation, Noon, Feb. 6

Charlie McNabb, author of Nonbinary Gender Identities: History, Culture, Resources, will speak about their research at 12 p.m. Tuesday, February 6 at the Linn-Benton Community College Library, 6500 Pacific Blvd. SW, Albany.

McNabb, an ethnographer, librarian, community archivist, and queer/trans/disability activist, will explain nonbinary identities, read passages from their book, and lead a Q&A discussion.

“Although there have always been people who identify outside the gender binary, only recently have they gained popular media attention,” said McNabb. “Despite some visibility, nonbinary gender identities are poorly understood by the general public. It is critically important for gender minorities to find themselves in the media that they consume. Just as important is the need for those outside the minority community to understand and appreciate them.”

This event is free and open to the public, and is presented by the Linn-Benton Community College Library.
