Free Community Education classes offered in Lebanon, Sweet Home

Linn-Benton Community College is offering several free community education classes starting Sept. 24 in Lebanon and Sweet Home.

The class “New to Medicare?” covers Medicare Parts A,B,C,D. Learn the basics of Medicare, including the history and add-ons that can be challenging to understand.

This free class is presented by SHIBA, LBCC, and OCWCOG. Preregistration required by calling 541-812-0849 or email dmode@ocwcog.org. Class meets Saturday, Sept 24 from 10-11:50 a.m. at the LBCC Lebanon Center, 44 Industrial Way.

The free class Santiam Kalapuya Molala Indians explores the life-ways of these Indians prior to the Caucasian invasion. First class meets in the classroom to cover pre-history of the people of Western Oregon. Second class is a field trip to Cascadia Cave, an important site to Santiam Kalapuyans, where you’ll examine traditional cultural resources and discuss restoration opportunities.

Class meets Monday, Sept. 26 from 1-2:50 p.m. and Tuesday, Sept. 27 from 10 a.m.-1:50 p.m. at the LBCC Sweet Home Center, 1661 Long St.

A free Lunch and Learn series provides a history lesson of Lebanon, including genealogy and more. Presented in partnership with the Lebanon Senior Center.

This nine-week series meets Mondays from 12:30-1:50 p.m. starting Sept. 26 at the Lebanon Senior Center, 80 Tangent Street.
