The LBCC Board of Education is seeking applicants to fill a board vacancy for the position of Zone 6-7, which includes Corvallis and some of the surrounding areas. Applicants must live within the zone to be considered. The person appointed would serve the remainder of the position’s term, through June 30, 2017. Application materials, including detail on what the Board seeks in a successful applicant, are available online at www.linnbenton.edu/boardapplication, or by contacting Amanda Kliever, 541-917-4204 or email at klievea@linnbenton.edu. Applications will be accepted starting Feb. 29 through March 31, 2016.

LBCC’s Theater Department completed its final performance this week of the 41st annual Children’s show "The Cat in the Hat.” Over 5,500 kids (and a few grown-ups) came through the Russell Tripp Performance Center to see the show, put together by Dan Stone, Richard Elvin, Tinamarie Ivey and a team of student actors and technicians. Great work!

This year's "Family Fun Day" event held Feb. 20 raised a record-breaking $7,472 for the Parenting Education Grant fund, thanks to generous donations from sponsors and families who came out in support, and to proceeds from the used toy and book sale, drawing sales and activity ticket sales.

A ribbon cutting ceremony was held Feb. 19 to dedicate the new Culinary Arts teaching classroom. The state-of-the-art classroom/kitchen is the first bond-measure project to be completed, made possible through a combination of bond funds and private donations. Not only is the classroom being used for our culinary student instruction, but will also be used to train COMP NW medical students in healthy meal planning.
