Fall Choir Concert “Peace & Wonder”
Linn-Benton Community College fall choral concert “Peace & Wonder” will be held Thursday, Dec. 4 at 7:30 p.m. in the LBCC Russell Tripp Performance Center, Takena Hall, 6500 Pacific Blvd. SW, Albany.
Conducted by Dr. James Reddan, LBCC director of Choral Activities, the performance includes the award-winning Concert Choir, Re-Choired Element Chamber Choir, and the vocal a cappella groups Blue Light Special and The Sirens. Penny Bazanele will accompany on piano.
The concert will feature different choral works to celebrate the joy of the season from across the choral spectrum and history, including: Gloria (from Haydn’s Harmoniemesse), Blow, Blow thou Winter Wind (Rutter), Sing We Now of Christmas (Hayes), Si ch’io vorrei morire (Monteverdi), Witness (arr. Jack Halloran), and Lo, How a Rose E’er Blooming for double choir (Praetorius/arr. Jan Sandstrom).
Additionally, the ensemble will present many works from around the world, including a piece for piano four-hands and choir featuring Bazanele and guest pianist Jordon Young.
The vocal a cappella ensembles will present some wonderful, upbeat works including: This is Gospel, I Believe I Can Fly, Young Volcanoes, Chandelier, Gold, Something Bad, and much more.
LBCC choir alumni will be invited to come to the stage to perform We Three Kings (Meader), an LBCC tradition. The performance will round out with a performance of Gaudete by Michael Engelhardt with full percussion.
Tickets are $10 general admission, $7 for students, seniors, and veterans, and $5 for under 18.
