There is a new tool to help students plan their LBCC course schedules inside WebRunner . It's called Student Scheduler and it helps students, staff, and faculty save time looking for courses by allowing a student to enter the courses they need and the times that they cannot take classes and gives them all of the options that are available. This was created as a senior project by one student at Chico State University. He created such an impressive product, Chico State became his company's first client. Here is a quick tutorial that shows how to use this great new tool:

The LBCC Benton Center annual Potters Sale and Show will be held on Friday, Dec. 9, from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. in the Benton Center Ceramics Studio, 757 NW Polk Ave., Corvallis. Buy your holiday pottery gifts and help support the ceramics studio. Ceramics faculty, students and instructional assistants from LBCC will showcase their work and offer raku, high fire, salt fire and wood fire pieces for sale. Selection includes vessels and vases, a wide variety of decorative items, useable tableware, small sculptures and more. The 41st annual LBCC Children’s Winter Festival will be held at Linn-Benton Community College on Saturday, Dec. 3 from 1 to 4 p.m. in the Commons cafeteria, second floor of the Calapooia Center, 6500 SW Pacific Blvd., Albany. The festival is free to children ages 12 and under. An optional donation of new or gently used winter clothing for all ages will be accepted to benefit the people of Linn and Benton counties. Children can participate in activities featuring everything from cookie decorating to pictures with Santa. All children must be accompanied by an adult. LBCC’s Performing Arts Department will present “A Christmas Carol” starting Thursday, Dec. 1 at 7:30 p.m. at the Russell Tripp Performance Center, Takena Hall, 6500 Pacific Blvd. SW, Albany. A contemporary take on the classic Charles Dickens tale, the play is set in America where Ebenezer Scrooge, a successful businesswoman, has built her money-making empire. Adapted by John Mortimer and directed by LBCC theater director Dan Stone, the play features puppetry, mask performance, original music and dance. What does it take to become a sustainable farmer? How do we grow biofuels for a sustainable future? And just what do these two things really mean? Ask agriculture instructor Stefan Seiter. In his eighth year of instruction at the college, Seiter is working to teach students all they need to know about sustainability in agriculture, and he’s doing it in a big way. Last year, Seiter began a nine-month professional leave of absence that would take him to some of the most innovative ecological farming education programs in the world, bringing back the best of the best ideas from college and intensive training programs across the United States, Germany, England, Denmark and Costa Rica. His goal: To gather as many ideas as possible about teaching sustainable agriculture and ecological practices, and to integrate those ideas into a long-term vision for LBCC’s programs to help make the college a national leader in the field. The Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges named Jayme Frazier, Linn-Benton Community College head women’s volleyball coach, the 2011 Volleyball Coach of the Year for the Southern Region. Frazier is in her 18th season as coach, with the team in the running for the NWAACC conference championship this year. Frazier also teaches Health and Human Performance at the college. In addition, the following players were selected for the Southern Region All-Stars team: Sophomore’s Hannah Bell, Julianna Evola, Mona Goudarzian and Lacy Wood. Honorable mentions went to freshman players Whitney Hightower and Lindsay Verboort. The LBCC team begins its quest for the NWAACC volleyball championship this Thursday, Nov. 17 at 4:30 p.m. when they play Lower Columbia College at Mt. Hood Community College.
