Choir Concert “The Heavens Are Telling”
The Linn-Benton Community College choirs will perform “The Heavens Are Telling” on Thursday, Dec. 2 at 7:30 p.m. in the Russell Tripp Performance Center, LBCC Takena Hall, 6500 Pacific Blvd. SW, Albany.
LBCC music instructor James Reddan will conduct the performances of the Concert Choir, Re-Choired Element Chamber Choir, Women’s Choir, Blue Light Special, and the Sirens. Diana Hancock will accompany on piano. Jason Caffarella will conduct the LBCC Men’s Ensemble.
The concert will feature 21 pieces of music performed by over 170 voices from LBCC's award winning choirs. Selections will include Eric Whitacre's "Sleep", Brian Schmidt's "Lux Aeterna", Franz Joseph Haydn’s "The Heaven's Are Telling" from the Creation, Randall Thompson's "Choose Something Like A Star", Darmon Meader's "We Three Kings," and much, much more. There will be everything from the lively to the ethereal with almost every choral genre featured.
A special kick-off release of the choir’s first music CD will take place at the concert. Entitled "Music is My Refuge," the CD features the LBCC Re-Choired Element, Concert Choir and Blue Light Special's award winning performances, including the American Prize in Choral Performance under the direction of conductor James Reddan.
The CD will be available for purchase for $15 during the concert and online through the theater box office ticket line at www.linnbenton.edu/go/tickets. Online CD orders will have an additional charge for postage.
Performance tickets are $7 general admission, $5 for students and seniors. Tickets can be purchased for no fee online at www.linnbenton.edu/go/tickets, at the Russell Tripp Performance Center Box Office, by phone at 541-917-4531, or one hour prior to the performance. Box office business hours are Tuesday through Friday, 8 a.m. to noon and 1 to 2 p.m.
