Free parenting workshop “Mind in the Making”

Child development expert Ellen Galinsky will hold a free parenting workshop “Mind in the Making” Monday, May 16 at 6:30 p.m. at the Corvallis High School Main Stage Theater, 1400 NW Buchanan Ave.

Galinsky is president and co-founder of the Families and Work Institute, and author of more than 100 books and reports on child development, including “Mind in the Making,” “Ask the Children,” and “The Six Stages of Parenthood.”

Held during Oregon Parenting Education Week, the workshop focuses on raising children to be well rounded and to achieve their full potential, and is designed for all parents, regardless of child’s age.

Galinsky will share her extensive knowledge of child development and discuss how to use everyday moments to teach seven key skills children need to be successful, including focus and self control, perspective taking, communicating, making connections, critical thinking, taking on challenges, and self-directed engaged learning.
