Willamette Theater Festival Presents Shakespeare Summer Plays

The Willamette Theater Festival presents Shakespeare’s “The Tempest” and “The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged)” beginning August 9 at the Russell Tripp Performance Center at Linn-Benton Community College, 6500 Pacific Blvd. SW, Albany.

The Tempest, directed by Dan Stone, will play August 9 and 17 at 8 p.m., and August 10 and 18 at 2 p.m.

The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged), by Adam Long, Daniel Singer, and Jess Winfield, and directed by Leslie Hammond, will play August 10 and 16 at 8 p.m., and August 11 and 17 at 2 p.m.

The Tempest is a visually stunning production that will take you on a journey through romance, magic and a deserted island.

This final masterpiece of Shakespeare's life places the desire for revenge against the demands of love, and captures the essence of the human condition with its compelling and timeless themes.

Marooned on a distant island with her daughter, Miranda, Prospero has spent twelve years perfecting her magic. An enchanted tale filled with humor, romance, and adventure, The Tempest is ultimately a tale of redemption and forgiveness.

The Complete Works takes in all 37 of Shakespeare plays in 97 minutes, with only three actors. The play is an irreverent, fast-paced romp through the entire opus of the world's greatest playwright.

Starring Eric Nepom, Benjamin Sell and Michael Winder, The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged) has been described as a "high-speed roller-coaster type condensation of all of Shakespeare's plays, and is not recommended for people with heart ailments, bladder problems, inner-ear disorders and/or people inclined to motion sickness" and may or may not suffer from a few wigs, explosions, and other natural disasters.

Created by the Reduced Shakespeare Company, this show has been entertaining Shakespeare friends and foes for more than 20 years.

Tickets are $15, or $25 for both shows. Purchase online at http://www.brownpapertickets.com.
