The winning entry for the Rename SIS contest is "Webrunner," submitted by LBCC student Tyler Spevacek. Tyler won an Apple iPod for his entry, which was chosen from more than 500 entries from students, staff and faculty.

Oregon Construction Contractors Board Education (CCB) will be offered through the Small Business Development Center at Linn-Benton Community College. This five session course will meet on April 22, 29, May 6, 13, and 20 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., on the LBCC Albany campus, Calapooia Center room CC-213. The course is required for CCB licensing as part of the education requirement before taking the State of Oregon CCB exam. Participants are required to attend all five of the state-approved sessions to satisfy the educational requirement for Oregon contractor licensing. Topics include employer requirements and employee rights, Oregon lien and contract law, taxes/recordkeeping, best business practices, project and time management, estimating and scheduling, building codes, OR-OSHA requirements, job site safety, environmental laws, and test taking strategies in compliance with ORS 701-280. Spanish for Seniors focuses on conversational Spanish with essential words, songs and phrases to help you get ready to travel more confidently in Spanish speaking countries. SERVe Project Results Show Positive Climate for Veterans By Bruce Clemetsen, Vice President, Student Affairs In 2013, LBCC accepted an invitation from OHSU and PSU researchers to participate in a four-year, federally funded research project titled The Study for Employment Retention of Veterans (SERVe). Along with 41 other Oregon employers, LBCC managers and employee-veterans participated in research to test a training model to improve supervisory relationships with veterans. SERVe project results were recently distributed to LBCC, and acknowledged our positive climate for veterans. Some of the highlights noted about LBCC: 42% of invited supervisors completed the training pre- and post-test program LB pre-test results on supportive supervision of veterans were 25% higher than the average of all participants.
